Fairtrade The Fairtrade Foundation was established in 1992 by CAFOD, Christian Aid, New Consumer, Oxfam, Traidcraft and the World Development Movement. These founding organisations were later joined by Britain's largest women's organisation, the Women's Institute.The Foundation is the UK member of Fairtrade Labelling Organisations International (FLO), which unites 21 national initiatives across Europe, Japan, North America, Mexico and Australia/New Zealand.Currently there are a total of 50 members of staff at the Fairtrade Foundation that work within the departments of Commercial Relations, Communications, Certification, and Finance and Resources. We also rely on the work of around 30 volunteers.The Fairtrade Foundation is a registered charity (no. 1043886). It is also a company registered in England and Wales (no. 2733136). Tco- Labelled products must have low emissions, meet ergonomic design criteria and have minimal environmentnal impact. The Trademark of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) indicates that the wood used to make the product comes from a forest which is well managed according to strict environmental, social and economic standards. The forest of origin has been independently inspected and evaluated according to the principles and criteria for forest management agreed and approved by the FSC. FSC is an international, non-profit association whose membership comprises environmental and social groups and progressive forestry and wood retail companies working in partnership to improve forest management worldwid The Nordic Eco-labelling criteria are based on evaluation of the environmental impacts during the life cycle of the product. The inks are alcohol-based or water-based and are not hazardous to health or environment. There are no chlorinated plastics or heavy metals in the products. Pilot Pen is fully engaged in ISO 14001 programmes in order to find the most effective ways to reduce impacts made on the environment. Manufactured from more than 50% recycled materials they use fewer virgin resources. The Ethical Tea Partnership works to monitor living and working conditions on tea estates with the aim of making sure that the tea you buy from members of our partnership has been produced in a socially responsible way. Our philosophy at Remarkable is to create recycled items that are well-designed, great qualityt and a joy to own. AS well as their environmental credentials all our products are made using only UK recycled materials. |
